The thing is that I don't think that Western societies have much of a memory, either. In Africa, the tribes are often very insular, with different tribes remembering their own histories, but not necessarily those of other tribes. IN th West, it is very rare that a child even has any knowledge of the kind of life their grandparents lived. *************
