This statement is delightfully ironic inasmuch as one the movies generating Oscar buzz -- "The Queen" starring the exquisite Helen Mirren -- is entirely focused on the very unbalanced and very emotional response of much of the British public to Diana's death.
Mirren portrays HRH as a woman who enters the media/emotion frenzy believing her people to possess the stiff upper-ness celebrated in countless postwar imagineerings but who leaves that perceptual meat grinder with a new understanding of our age of conspicuous, telecommunicated grief.
