Australia and China ratify nuclear fuel deal http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1888975,00050004.htm

Australia and China have ratified a nuclear agreement clearing the way for the export of uranium to feed Beijing's giant nuclear power programme, Canberra said on Friday.

The agreement providing a legal framework for shipments of the nuclear fuel to the Asian powerhouse will come into force in 30 days, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said in a statement....

Yeah, you can see the spin all on how great uranium mining will be for "the economy" down here every day now. Last night, I watched a doco on how radiation isn't as dangerous as once thought--not so many victims of Chernobyl.

Western Australia as a state controlled by anti-nuke Alan Carpentar is still resisting. But, it won't be long--WA has tonnes of uranium and bourgeois mining property owners are panting at the stock market door, banging their pots for a political green light. The Labor Party as a whole is caving in to its right-wing pro-nukers and of course and Howard's Liberals are positively "dizzy with success" as they push the resource boom. Australia has 40% of the proven uranium resources.

Watch for the Shrub to push nuclear power as the solution to global warming at the State of the Union address. He'll probably pull the thorium rabbit out of his hat.

Oil, coal and uranium, just lovely.
