Those who denied or defended the Stalinist purge trials _even after_ they became aware of the well-documented facts were wrong. But in this case, we just heard one story from one corporate media source. No similarity between the two.

The South, school policy toward athletes, etc. have changed, but Maoists haven't? Now that may be true, but why assume it to be true, before checking the facts?

Yes. Those who really care about GLBT individuals in Nepal have more reasons than others to try to obtain accurate information about what's happening.
