You are just using the wrong definition if you think that. If you need to work for a living you are working class. If you own sufficient capital to make your living from exploiting other people's labour, you are a capitalist. Simple, nothing to do with job description or identity and lifestyle is only relevant in the simplest sense that you need to have sufficient capital to provide for a reasonable lifestyle in the context of the social conditions.
