MUMBAI (Reuters) - Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., part of Honda Motor Co., said on Sunday it would build a second Indian plant in Rajasthan, with initial annual capacity for 50,000 units, and make a small car for sale in India. The plant will be on a 500-700 acre site and house a network of vendors, the company said in a statement.
Honda, which is gaining a bigger share of the mid-size and premium segments of the Indian autos market, aims to make and sell more than 150,000 vehicles a year in the fast-growing market by the end of 2010.
The company is this year doubling annual capacity at its existing plant near New Delhi to 100,000 units.
Honda Siel Cars was set up in 1995, and sells the City, Civic and Accord sedans and the CR-V sport utility in India.
