The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has decided to inject an additional US $933,000 into the 'HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care in Vietnam-Round II' project.
The funding will be received by the Health Ministry as approved by the Prime Minister, who agreed to expand to project to another six months.
The project "HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care in Vietnam " was a collaborative project between CDC and the National AIDS Standing Bureau of the Health Ministry through Global Aids Programme (GAP).
The project's first round, spanning between 1999 and 2001, focused on improving technical and professional capacity of Vietnamese AIDS Prevention and Control staff.
In the second round from 2001 to 2006, the project centred on reducing the impact of HIV/AIDS in Vietnam , focusing on implementing prevention programmes, strengthening care, support and relevant services for people living with HIV/AIDS and bettering infrastructure and personnel capacity. (VNA)
