Jeez, what a cipher. How do you deduce this kid as being "intelligent, well-educated"? He sounds incurious, untutored and solipsistic to the point of being feral. One almost has to admire the effort it must have taken to preserve this teenager's cranium in such a content-free state. Again the words of Doc Johnson come to mind: "Sherry [Thomas Sheridan] is dull, naturally dull; but it must have taken him a great deal of pains to become what we now see him. Such an excess of stupidity, Sir, is not in Nature."

I'd advise your son to seek a more intellectually stimulating companion -- a pet rock perhaps.
