My girlfriend has told me some really gross stories
about having to clean out the women's bathroom at a
drugstore she worked at. It's never something I'd like
to repeat. I worked at a bookstore and part of the job
was to clean out the men's room, rotated between male
employees (management and non-management -- you know,
faux egalitarianism). The women likewise had to clean
out the ladies' room, also shared "equitably." Never
found any left over cocaine, darnit.
I like Kropotkin's answer to "Who would do the dirty
work?" He said if there's still work left that's
dirty, it might be because men of higher culture --
who shit and fart, etc., like anyone else -- have
probably never devoted themselves to making it less
agreeable the way they have devoted themselves to
squeezing out higher profits, yet in any event such
work should be shared truly equitably, rotating folks
to do it, etc.
