In 1986 or so I was dating a girl who worked in the Short Hills Mall for a short while. I went to pick her up one day and noticed Nixon standing against the wall with two USSS dudes nearby. He looked lonely, so I approached him. Shook his hand, told him about having a 'now more than ever' button and that I'd seen someone with a t-shirt recently that said "Nixon: Tan, Rested, Ready" ... he chuckled and said that his daughter was doing a book-signing tour and he was there to lend some support. I felt bad for the guy, really.
10 minutes later he was mobbed outside the Barnes & Noble.
