National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, on February 20, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, offered incenses at the Hung Temple in the northern midland province of Phu Tho in memory of Hung Kings, the legendary founder of the country.

The NA chairman then attended a tree planting campaign, where he asked every locality, agency, business, school, hospital and army unit to respond to the campaign to help increase forest coverage, fertilise soil and improve the environment.

The chairman praised Phu Tho province's progresses in re-greening and forest protection programmes.

The same day, the legislative leader attended the 10th anniversary of the re-establishment of Phu Tho province, which was organised by the provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front. "Phu Tho province should make full use of its potentials and resources so as to create breakthroughs in development and continuously improve the living conditions for the local people," the chairman said.

On the occasion, the chairman presented the Independence Order, first class, to Phu Tho province's Party committee, administration and people.

Phu Tho province now ranks second among the 64 localities in the country in tea export. It leads the 14 northern mountainous and midland provinces in industrial development and is ranked 17th of the localities nationwide in attracting the official development assistance (ODA) funds. (VNA)
