[WS:] No doubt about that. Slavery was different in every single place and time it existed. That point has already been convincingly argued on this forum, AFAIR.
As a corollary to the above I would also like to add that US exceptionalists often argue that US instituions, including slavery, are very much different from any other similarly looking institutions elsewhere, either in an exceptionally good or exceptionally bad way. This is a form of cheap moralizing (extolling or shaming) and basically a bunch of tripe.
