Japan to pour US $500 million in Vietnam's growing stock market http://www.nhandan.com.vn/english/business/071106/business_j.htm
Japanese investors are soon likely to invest around US $500 million in the Vietnamese stock market, according to a Japanese investment consultant who brought a group of investors from his country to Ho Chi Minh City.
Shigekazu Utsunomiya, director of consultancy Million Millionaires Project Company (TMMP) said Japanese interest in Vietnam's stock market was high thanks to the traditional investment relations between the two countries.
Last week he brought 11 high-value individual from Japan to Ho Chi Minh City Security Corporation (HSC), a brokerage, to open stock trading accounts. Nguyen Huu Nam, HSC's general director, said this was one of the largest groups of investors to come to Viet Nam for the sole purpose of trading in securities.
TMMP has been working with HSC since May 2006, getting information about the stock market and other factors.
Nam said the Japanese investors had spent a lot of time going over the stock market and investment strategies with HSC analysts before opening the accounts. (VNA)
