It is a mini-series based on a book of the same name David Simon wrote that examines the lives of addicts and their close relations caught up in the Baltimore drug trade. A few of these people actually make cameos in The Wire, Brother Muzone's sidekick, the one sent out to buy copies of The Nation and Harper's, is the actual son of the addict the book focuses on.
