Vietnam's Education Ministry and the US Academy of Sciences will boost cooperation in tertiary education and scientific research.
An agreement was signed between Deputy Education and Training Minister Banh Tien Long and President of the academy Ralph Ciceron in Washington D.C on March 15.
Attending the signing ceremony were visiting Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Tam Chien, representatives from the Vietnam Education Foundation and other Vietnamese senior officials.
The US academy will help Vietnam build international standardised universities and provide training for Vietnamese staff at well-known US universities.
The two sides also worked out the 2007-2008 cooperation plan after the signing ceremony. (VNA)
