$3.25? Wow. Life is cheap in New York!

Yes, gas prices are rising nationally <http://www.eia.doe.gov/oil_gas/ petroleum/data_publications/wrgp/mogas_history.html>. The national average is $2.62, up about 10% from the beginning of the year. Of course, it should be about $6.00.

It's around $1.20AUD a litre around Perth. That's something like a dollar a quart USD or $4USD a gallon. The pollies have gotten away with a lot of regressive taxation on petrol, which artificially inflates the price. Lordy knows where the money goes. It sure isn't being spent much on roads, not in Western Australia anyway. Once you get out of Perth, it's essentially nothing but two-lane highways and dirt roads.
