When I came to Bloomington in 1961, there were _no_ apartments available
and only one house for rent. It was a junkyard but I rented it. That
partly explains why in states such as WEst Virginia so many want to own
homes -- there is no alternative. Even when they began to build
apartment buildings here it was mostly one-bedroom apts. I don't know
what the situation is now.
