The question is not about subsistence farming per se, but rather how one
transitions from subsistence farming. The Mexico experiment and the chaotic
and massive urbanization as a result (Mexico city) is no model. It is
precisely this problem that "leftists" in countries like Ethiopia are trying
solve.
If all you "rightists" have is unsustainable urbanization and squalor as your idea of development, you can keep it. I ain't buying.
