I was arrested on May 2, 1986 by the Chicago police during the Haymarket Remembered conference. Spent the night in jail, got out on the 3rd, and made the centennial anniversary at Waldheim Cemetary on May 4. There was an amusing conflict at the Haymarket Martyr monument between us actual anarchists and the labor history dorks who were upset that anarchists crashed their party.

Here's an amusing anarchist graffiti on the NHL marker: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haymarket_Riot

At least people have gotten a bit better about recognizing the centrality of the anarchist story with Haymarket. Some asswipes like the ISO still publish stories about Haymarket that downplay or ignore anarchists.

Happy May Day.
