The reason was bullshit but the point wasn't. Criticism that can have no political impact is subject to the sneer in my previous post. Nothing I might have said at any time would have had any effect whatever on events in Iraq -- hence I never said anything one way or the other about Saddam. Of course in retrospect it is clear that his regime was infinitely superior (even for Kurds or Shiites) than is the current one. The criticism of Iran currently being expressed on this list has no relevance to Iran; in fact it is not about Iran but about what fine people the critics themselves are.
