Unilever Vietnam opened the country's largest goods distribution centre on May 11 in the southern province of Binh Duong.
The 10-ha factory, located in the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park, will act as a transit point for goods en route to destinations nationwide as well as 18 foreign countries.
The centre will be run by the Australian logistics provider Linfox. "This new investment project reconfirms our strong commitment to furthering our investment and operations in Vietnam," said Unilever vice president Greg Sullivan.
In another development, the Unilever Vietnam Foundation launched an annual programme on May 10 to provide funding for Vietnamese healthcare projects. The 2007 Annual Funding for Healthcare and Sanitation Programme will select and fund health projects that aim to benefit the local population, particularly women and children in disadvantaged areas.
Last year, the programme provided a total of VND 2.9 billion (US $181,250) to 14 healthcare projects. (VNA)
