The whole "the world is divided into oppressor and oppressed nations and the only way the latter can get out from under the boot of the former and develop is to have a socialist revolution and delink from global capitalism, so any improvement in Russia/India/China/wherever can't really be happening, I point to farmer suicides in India and striking workers in China as proof" ideology. Cf. the World Socialist Website.

Actually, I pointed to the Goskomstat income map and mentioned Kalmykia. Saying Muscovites are priviliged beings is like saying the sun is a giant ball of fusing hydrogen. Duh. Something like 50% of marriages registered in Moscow are believed to be fictitious, arranged so that a provincial can marry a Muscovite and so get a Moscow residence stamp in his/her passport. What I said was 1) that Rostov-on-Don, Kazan, Vladivostok, Ekaterinberg and Yaroslavl are not hellholes and 2) that they blame their woes on local problems, such as corrupt police and oblast governments, not on the federal center.
