Everybody plays Moscow, dude! 50 Cent was on one of the big Russia MTV awards shows a year or so ago. The Dead Kennedys (minus Jello) were shown around Red Square by the eXile's photographer. Shakira played Red Square last year. :)

I don't think there's anything in the name issue -- the only examples I can think of are Uma2urman and the George Harrisson band you mention, which I never heard of before.

Uma2rman actually has a love song about Uma Thurman (this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKyWhAZsx7Y&mode=related&search= ). Part of the lyrics refer to how it is a pain to work with Tarantino because he gets drunk and tried to do the nasty with Uma. IIRC she met them when she was in Moscow with Tarantino and Carradine to promote Kill Bill. Tarantino was photographed with Gennady Zyuganov and declared himself a supporter of the Communist Party.

For people who aren't me and B., the video he is refering to is of the theme song to Night Watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiT6ofGgmyQ

They hit it big with this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YiT6ofGgmyQ , which is about a girl from Moscow Region, despite the fact that the town they're walking around in does not resemble the Moscow Region in any way.

I like that last song, but I am not a big fan.
