Nonsense. True, I read with pleasure Hitchens' wry remarks about Mormonism -- probably the most preposterous religion extant -- on Slate. But Hitchens' recent thunderous denunciations of religion are transparently an attempt to reingratiate himself with the left after his relentless cheerleading for the war on Iraq, which included endless slanders of antiwar activists. As much as I dislike religion, I consider war the ultimate evil.

While religion may believe all people are open to salvation, I don't. Hitchens' championing of the Iraq war is inexcusable, and he remains irredeemably a vile individual. I wish him the worst.
