Well, mazel tov to 'em both. I had no doubt that Cockburn was on a polar-route pleasure excursion of some sort and was mystified by his attempt to gussy up an obvious junket as a fact-finding mission -- "direct review of the ice cap" -- with all the gravitas of the Franklin Expedition. It's hard to say who's more preposterous these days -- Cockburn or Hitchens -- both of whom are in urgent need of getting their idées fixes fixed.
