This study is interesting and important because it follows the same
people over time instead of using cross sectional snapshots of the
entire population. Snapshots, like the yearly Census income and
poverty data, are informative, but they don't really tell you how
people live. No one experiences a median directly. This study,
though, does tell you something about how people live, and it's not
pretty.
