> (And there's a similar morality fable or somesuch, about a man entering heaven, asked to name the most talented artist in history; the man answers something like "Michelangelo" and -- St. Peter( ?) -- replies that it was actually this obscure fellow no one's heard of, supremely gifted, but never given an earthly opportunity employ his talents. -- Anyone know this tale I'm talking about?)

A chapter in Mark Twain's "Captain Stormfield's visit to Heaven". The world's greatest general, musician, writer etc. are all men (no women) who never got a chance to exercise their talents in life.
