Wrong! Because the alternative is not that the U.S. builds 300 coal-fueled plants and China builds none; it is that the U.S. builds 300 coal plants and China builds 300 coal plants. Obviously, in comparison, the first scenario is far better for the environment.

This is the same argument people repeatedly use against people buying a Toyota Prius; for his daily to drive from his concrete driveway across paved roads to his employer's parking garage and back again, your moron neighbor just took delivery of a new 4WD V-10 Ford Excursion, so it "logically" follows that instead of you buying a Prius you too should give up and purchase a 10 MPG land yacht as well.
