No, I'm a totally irresponsible parent and I have never cared what they were assigning my kids at school. Also my wife, a 4th grade schoolteacher, is also irresponsible and doesn't even look at the textbooks she is required to teach from. Her mom was a school administrator in Queens for 40 years, but we were so indifferent to problems of education that we never paid attention to anything she said. (If she were still with us, I am sure she'd attest to that.) We think the system is fine because we live in blithe obliviousness. What, me worry?
