I assume that you (mistakenly) offer Faulkner and Williams as standards of excellence. So off the top of my head I might cite Walt Whitman, F. Scott Fitzgerald, P. G. Woodhouse and Peter Matthiessen as among the good writers who have found L.I. a congenial place to work.
