Every time I try to get out, they drag me back in! First with Lupa's cave and now with insects.
I was becoming a lurker because of not being able to talk about the area that cannot be named.
But
1) If I remember correctly Malecki named his zine after a 1980s dub-poetry song about how highly evolved cockroaches are. "No cockroach ever voted for Ronald Reagan," is one line I remember from the song.
2) If revolutionary symbols are needed a cockroach is certainly better than the imperialist symbols of the eagle or wolf. But I would nominate the Butterfly or the Dolphin for our interspecies revolutionary symbols. Cockroaches are fascinating creatures and will probably outlast the human species but still they leave something to be desired because of the human emotion known as "ick".
3) The Sparts are all about humor. How can anyone read W.V. through the 80s without seeing how funny they were. They lost some of their clowns (perhaps clones?) in various purges. So the paper is not as funny.
4) Finally. We must defend the right to compare ourselves favorably to insects or all of our humanity will be lost!
