That's not really the point. The point is that Iran is not the principled anti-imperialist power that you get all misty-eyed about. (Oh! they're developing a fighter plane!! Jouissance!!!) Iran would be happy to cut a deal with the U.S., and it also wouldn't mind being a regional subimperialist power itself.
