"Although Ms. Lessing at the beginning of her writing career had a few admirable qualities, I find her work for the past 15 years quite unreadable ... fourth-rate science fiction," Bloom told The Associated Press.

Oh but really, this is little more than grumpy old man assholiness.

To my knowledge, Lessing wrote three science fiction themed works, known collectively as 'Canopus in Argos: Archives'. Literary snobs (may their flat asses be dipped in the lava flows of Venus) apparently never forgave her.
