Armenians really do seem to be the universal whipping boy in that part of the world. It seems like every decade or so more Armenians get massacred somewhere or other.

I'm really not sure why that is. I know the Russian stereotype of Armenians, which I am sure they picked up from the Caucasians, is that they are shifty, mendacious, and money-hungry merchants always trying to rip you off. Sort of like stereotypes of a different ethnic group I can think of, in fact.

people doing the massacrering were Kurds. This was something held over their heads for years. It came up at the end of Gulf War I, when Kouchner was

organizing refugee aid for the Kurds fleeing Saddam's crack down (aid

that would eventually evolve into the Northern no-fly zone).
