I suppose one can't call Churchill a progressive head of state on this
list, and yet one of my favorite little books is his very small and
entertaining volume "Painting as a Passtime." He was a fairly gifted
amateur in oils.
And Louis XIV (of France) lent a great hand in the evolution and definition of ballet.
