Dennis:

There's been a lot of criticism of homework load and content lately. Critics say kids are being assigned piles of counterproductive busywork every night.

[WS:] Does it not depend on what the home is? Middle class kids typically get a lot of intellectual stimulation at home anyway, so homework may seem as unnecessary burden. However, lower class kids often lack that stimulation and for them, homework is the only way they can get on a par with middle class kids in that respect, no? Provided, of course, that they care to do it in the first place.
