Anarchists have a concept called "unarresting" which is something done 
during demos and protests. It usually works best when a few cops have 
arrested somebody and the crowd outnumbers them. A tug-of-war between 
protesters and cops is initiated by quick-thinking anarchists. Most 
police usually expect nobody to come to the aid of the person being 
kidnapped, so the element of surprise can sometimes free the person(s) 
from the arresting officers.
