Incense? It would have been more appropriate if they had lit up cigarettes.

Ho Chi Minh was a chain smoker, and his favorite smoke was the US menthol brand Salem. Likewise, Stalin was an inveterate pipe smoker, and *his* favorite tobacco was the US brand Edgeworth. Meanwhile, for decades there has never been a more prized cigar among US capitalists than the Cuban Cohiba, originally supplied exclusively to Fidel Castro and other senior Cuban officials.

There may be something to the Native American tradition of a peace pipe after all.
