At least 35 percent of the companies affiliated to the National Iranian Petrochemical Company (NIPC) have been privatized, the company says.
According to NIPC's Public Relations Department, another nine petrochemical companies will be privatized by the end of March 2008, in line with the general policies of Article 44 of the Constitution.
The nine petrochemical firms awaiting privatization include Khorasan, Shiraz, Tabriz, Kermanshah's Bisotoun, Fanavaran, Shahid Tondgouyan, Amir Kabir, Razi and Ghadir petrochemical companies.
There are a total of 68 petrochemical companies in Iran, 29 of which are completely state-owned. According to Article 44, a large number of the state-run firms will be ceded to the private sector.
