[WS:] I would imagine that in an era of shirnking union membership, increasing the number of membership is good, because it spreads and popularizes the idea of unionism. It moves people to action. Of course, it would be better if the union were more militant, but that is not an option in the current political climate, so criticizing that is counterproductive. Those who are drowning have no business in complaining about the comfort of the life vests being thrown to them.
