Most of Latin America, Russia and huge chunks of Europe would beg to differ -- they voted out neolibs (continental Europe never really had much of a neolib infection) and voted in developmental states.
Nandigram and the astounding civil mobilization around it -- a million people poured through the center of Kolkata, directly defying the ruling party and forcing the land-robbers to put away the guns, at least for now -- proves that there's plenty of resistance to neoliberalism. It doesn't always take electoral form, but it's there.
