Yeah. That's basically how my family got out of Romania. But now it gets interesting. My father was a (secular) Jew; my mother was Christian. According to the xtians, I was a "dirty jew." According to the U.S. jews, I was Christian (mother's religion determines the religion of the child).

Because of this, we did not emigrate to Israel, but to the U.S. where the only religious discrimination I ever experienced was from jews who judged me verboten wife material for their sons.

Frankly, I've had a bellyful of both these religions.
