I may be spectacularly stupid (no comments on that, please), but how does this statement make any kind of sense? What does the depreciation of a home's value have to do with its owner's ability to continue mortgage payments? (I assume that the home hasn't physically depreciated to such a degree that the owners has to pay for other housing since that isn't what O. said.) Obviously, I'm missing something crucial here; what is it?
