Two points.

1. The Weather leadership were a bunch of slimeballs who ruined a number of lives. (Milton noted that there must be tyrants but that is no excuse for the tyrants.)

2. You are correct that Pollitt is spouting useless nonsense. A Left that can be destroyed by its marginal elements is simply a left that is going to come apart anyhow. There will ALWAYS be a "Weatherman factioj"; there will ALWAYS be an Avakian & followers, there will ALWAYS be Julio Huatos, there will ALWAYS be those who think the movement is everything (i.e. build slowly in localities) and the final goal nothing. Why whine about it. The next Wather Underground will at the time look totally different from the old one, so nothing is gained in the present by whining about the past. And it is whining, not criticism that Pollit gives us.
