Erm... the biggest female rock star in Russia is Zemfira (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-8KvCsAGZY ), who is admittedly of Tatar nationality, who goes back to 1997-1998. Masha whatever her last name is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-yF-jywNNE ) of Masha i Medvedi and Eva Polva of Gosti iz Budushego ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpWWknnjxIQ&feature=related ) are also both quite a bit older.
Not to mention that Tatu was started in around 2000. ;)
