If I had a brilliant ideas that hadn't been thought of, I wouldn't keep them to myself.

At present, the obvious:

work in antiwar, antimilitarist, antiracist, antisexist, environmental, civil righst, etc. movements

organize unions

propagandize in a way that will be heard (Doug does a good job of that)

develop and push new policy ideas through think tanks and other sources, like Dean Baker

build our own organizations, not traditional Leninist parties

lobby for good legislation and against bad legislation

try to get good independent and nonpartisan candidates elected at local levels

create progressive ballot initiatives

organize demonstrations for good causes

give money to left wing groups (plug here for the National Lawyers Guild, the lawyers of last resort!)

this will be controversial): vote for progressive Democrats for local offices

(even more controversially): vote for wicked mainstream Democrats for national office over even more wicked Republicans

I don't intend to argue the last two points, It's one on which Carl and I vehemently disagreed.

Do not give up hope

There are other good things to do. None of them will bring on the revo or even social democracy. We don't really know what else to do. Carl would have wanted us to do all of them escept the parts involving supporting any Democrats.
