To an extent that's unavoidable simply by the very nature of the procedure. But that's hardly unique to abortion. It was a heavy decision for me to get laser eye surgery. It cost a fortune, hurt like hell, impacted significantly on my daily life within a couple weeks either side of the procedure and had very dire potential consequences if things went wrong. It certainly wasn't a decision I could have made lightly. People make decisions like that all the time though and they're usually able to do so without the added burden of self-appointed moral guardians of the right and left hovering over them to tell them what a tragedy it is.
