Note that this has some similarity to both Hillary and Barack's plans, except the problem -- as Marta rightly points out -- is that without a few other features, this is really lousy. The features, which Ron Paul would be against (because it's "too much government"), are:

- Require portability - Require guaranteed access - Require premiums to be reasonable

Otherwise it's just a nice little way for healthy working people to pay insurance companies. If you're sick? You can get dropped. Changing jobs? Can get denied. Don't pay enough taxes to afford $2k/mo? Tough shit, you can just die.
