He was Bush's top economic advisor in 2001-2002. In a September 2002 interview with the WSJ, he said that the Iraq war would cost up to $200 billion, an impertinence for which he was fired, and replace with a pliant hack from Goldman Sachs. At the time, the Bush admin was saying the cost of the war would be no more than $50-60 billion.
