I got into a dispute at a recent Solidarity meeting
about "unproductive labor," whether labor that does
not involve production of physical object generates
surplus value and real profit as opposed to mere rent.
As some of you know I have argued here at various
times the the productive/unproductive labor
distinction is specious, that any labor the bosses can
turn into profit involves extraction of SV and is
source of non-rent profits. I foolishly agreed to give
a short presentation on this despite my other
obligations. I'd be much obliged if people could:
1. Tell me how I could find my old posts on this topic
in the archives;
2. Offer other suggestions for reading (moderate
length)
and
3. Offer any comments or idea on this topic that they
may have.
Thanks.
